As an engineering and program manager with experience in several industries I have driven my engineering teams towards a quality-focused continuous value delivery mindset. I have overseen the success of more than 100 software projects throughout my career in industries like aerospace, medical, education and banking taking place with engineers across the globe. From my experience with safety critical industries I have learned the value of quality, safety, security, and reliability of their products in the market, which are achieved through good teamwork, understanding of the product needs, sound architecture and design principles.

Senior Project Manager

As a senior project manager at Edify I have contributed to establishing project management processes across the organization, as well as establishing a career path for project managers. I have managed software education projects mostly focused on the US market. On my own time I have supported local social responsibility projects of the company in coordination with public schools in Costa Rica.

Director of Engineering

As a Director of Engineering in a medical software company I drove my team towards a quality-focused continuous value delivery mindset. I lead an energetic international team of engineers to build successful relationships with our customers that included global corporations and dynamic startups. The safety, security, and reliability of their products in the market was achieved through consistent teamwork, standards, solid embedded architecture and design principles, QA strategy, and more. I oversaw the success of the portfolio of software projects taking place at the company in Ann Arbor, Michigan with remote resources in Latin America and Europe.

Highlights

  • Development of a noble distributed embedded software architecture that enabled the reusability of common medical device features such as Alert, Alarm and Fault management, common embedded messaging protocols for communication between different embedded systems, sensors and I/O modules.
  • Establishing a Project Management practice with a complete set of procedures that enabled the delivery of projects successfully to customers of very different set of needs from large corporations to small start-ups.
  • Enabled the career development of engineers from junior to more senior roles within the company and beyond, including software developers, QA testers and analysts and project managers.

Intertec International 2012 — 2014

Project Management Lead

I managed a team of 8 senior Project Managers and 7 Business Analysts for a portfolio of 5 different accounts within the technology group of a US national bank. I was in charge of projects with teams from 4 to 15 engineers (systems analysts, architects, developers and QA) in distributed locations along the US, Costa Rica and India in the support of 8 ultra-Tier-1 web service applications including the largest web service system within the bank with a fully available redundant architecture and the largest database system for account transactions with three fully redundant data centers distributed geographically across the US.

Highlights

  • Delivered more than 30 medium to high risk projects on time, within budget and over 80 low risk projects.

Avionyx 2007 — 2012

SDLC Tech Lead and Project Manager

I was a software engineer, project manager and technical lead for over 5 years that developed and verified software for Avionics and Aerospace industries.

Highlights

  • Development of a test automation tool that allowed for the automated verification of a Digital Low Range Radio Altimeter Primary Calculation Module.
  • Reverse-engineering and improvement of the mathematical components of a legacy radar system.
  • Developed digital signal processing embedded software currently supporting altimeters in Airbus A320 airplanes amongst other models for Airbus and Boeing
